I wonder if anyone else has noticed this......

In the retail game, specifically at Laguna in Free Race mode (that's all
I've tried so far) you can still see the AI cars in front of you in the
distance, even when you shouldn't.  For example, I can see all of the
cars in front of me going thru the Corkscrew, while I'm still 100-200
yards back and only approaching the Corkscrew.  I see them right thru
the "pavement" in front of me.

Anyone else notice this?  And is there a fix?  I tried locking the
framerate, but see no difference.

My system has a radeon 9700 PRO, Athlon XP2100, WinXP Pro.

Thanks.

That is a driver issue.  A Mipmap setting or something.  Your video card
drivers should be telling the GPU to hide the cars, but some call is not
being accepted by the hardware or bypassed by the software and thus the
cars peek thru.  You sometimes can see this in other sims when a big track
is used.  You'll see a ribbon in the sky ahead of you because the drivers
are not hiding the track portion because you are not close enough to have
yet drawn the hills which SHOULD be blocking your view.

Hmmm....  That could very well be, Dave.  So, that begs another question:

I've stayed with the ATI Cat 3.7 driver because I had found that later 3.?
drivers caused problems in GPL.  Therefore, I've never tried any of the 4.?
drivers.  So, is anyone here successfully using a Catalyst 4.? driver in GPL
without having the trackside scenery tear or simply disappear?  If so, which
one?

Thanks!

I have an ATI 9700 Pro, and I'm running the 4.1 drivers.  They seem to work
quite well.  No problems in any of those games.

I've got the same bug with my Nvidia T4600 on the demo.. I assume that this
is a beta bug and is fixed in the production version?
