Looks fine in clear weather.

Perhaps you're suffering spray "entering" the***pit... to the game the
cars are still open-wheelers with a tub in the middle, so it happily draws
spray "though" the***pits of the GT mod, causing a flikkering effect.
Elas... bodywork and a windshield are but illusions in the GTR 2002 mod.

I,m not sure that is what Jon was talking about.  I am suffering from what I
believe he is referring to.  I can watch my frame rates, and they remain
steady around 70fps, but the display stutters and appears to be choopy at
times.  It really looks more like a frame that freezes for about half a
second, then the display continues on for a few seconds or more, then it
occurs again.

I had a similar problem and could not get rid of it until I started
using "EnditAll" to kill absolutely all non-essential background ***
before playing.  I think I got Enditall at http://www.racesimcentral.net/

/me raises his hand

I have the same problem. All is fine on dry / sunny days, but as
soon as the track is wet, the display gets all jumpy, pauses
for half a second, then jumps on. I had the same problem with
the Alfa mod in rainy conditions.

Strangely enough I don't have that problem using a vanilla F1
2002 on the same rig:

Athlon XP1800+
GF2MX 400
ECS K7SA / LAN

In dry conditions, I get around 30-50fps depending on track
detail.

Cheers,

Uwe

All that's running when I start GTR2002 is Explorer and Systray
(on win98se), nothing else (I only use this system for games as
it should be with windows ;-)

GTR2002 graphics question...

It's not a problem caused by things running in the background, at least I
don't believe it is.  I only get this in the rain, and my framerates stay
around 70 while it is occurring.

GF4 Ti4600 w/ 40.72 drivers
WinXP Pro (Anyone having this problem with Win98?)

Every other game is smooth as silk regardless of graphics requirements.  I
think there must be a glitch in the way the mod handles the rain.  It is
still playable, just slightly annoying.

Other than this small quirk, this is probably one of the most fun Games /
Sims I have played.  I like the NR2002 for league play.  And GPL is probably
still the most challenging thing I have ever played, but GTR2002 is right
there with them.  For offline play, it may be the best so far.  And oh yeah,
the sound...  :-)

Steve Blankenshi

GTR2002 graphics question...

by Steve Blankenshi » Fri, 06 Dec 2002 23:21:30

I had intermittent stuttering with F1-2002 in spite of solid FPS (w/bg progs
shut down), but saw in some forums it could be caused by the CD accessing.
Running the No-CD exe did stop it for me.  More recently, I had a ***
stutter with the MS Rallysport Challenge demo, and found that reducing the
number of frames pre-rendered to 1 in my Nvidia card settings (same tab as
vsync) solved that.  You might give either or both a try.
