GTR2002 Multiplayer LAN question..

by Mike Beaucham » Fri, 03 Jan 2003 17:18:52

Hey all..
I remember trying F12002 multiplayer on the net, and got annoyed to all
hell. So, I'm not at all familiar with how it works, but here's what I
wouldn't mind doing.

Having a small LAN (2 or 3 computers) doing GTR2002 in a race as a team,
doing a 100% length race against a full AI field. So, it would be say, me
and my friends as the Ferrari team at Spa for a few hours trying to work our
way through the field, taking pit stops, etc. Is that possible?

Sorry, I'm totally new to F12002/GTR2002 online/LAN.

Absolutely, no AI cars in MP. It's a shame, if two of you want to race Le
Mans, you'll probably never see anything, might just as well not do MP.

Andi.

My son and I race side by side on 2 of our 3 simulators (1 is for friends). If
the people you race with (against?) are all at the same level, it's a real
hoot. If not, then you may as well not bother.

Thanks for all the responses guys, it's exactly what I was afraid of.

It's a damn shame really.. it seems like such an important thing for
multiplayer. I guess I just took in for granted in other Multiplayer games
I've played. Live For Speed, even Ghost Recon and Sum of All Fears can be
played multi with some AI backup or enemies.

I guess we'll stick to the changing drivers during a pitstop strategy.

Yeah, I've got a few friends who are casual racing fans - some have wheels
but most use only joysticks or keyboards.  Back when GP3 was popular, we had
a ball on a LAN because it was a game where it was possible to be
competitive using a keyboard or stick.  These days, with more advanced games
like F1/GTR 2002 and GPL and it's not really possible for a casual racer to
get within daylight of a regular sim'er like myself.  Maybe I should swallow
my pride and get a few of my friends into GP4... :O
