SCGT - Multiplayer on LAN is horrible ???

by Mike » Fri, 16 Jul 1999 04:00:00

I am running SCGT on two PC, connected on a LAN at 100mbs.  The performance
with SCGT is just awful.  It does not matter whether I use IPX or TCP/IP...
with only the two of us racing, the other guys car is skipping and jumping
all over the track... often completely disappearing for a second.  I have
tried data rates of as low as 4 and as high as 32.  It seems to work OK for
the first turn or two, then gets really bad.  Its just awful.  I must really
be missing something here...

Make sure the person with the faster CPU is the host.

On a LAN?  What kind of systems are you running?  I had it running on a novell
4.11 LAN with a 333mhz and a 350 mhz system.  Running 2 humans plus 14 AI ran
*beautifully*.  I didn't change anything in data rates(actually, I didn't know
it existed...).  And, my server is only a 486... :-)
Post some more info, or feel free to e-mail me.  I'll help if I can.
