Tire wear indicators in F1-2K - They DO work

by BriGu » Fri, 21 Apr 2000 04:00:00

I just spent five minutes faced into a wall at full throttle, and the
tire wear indicators got to red after a long, long time at yellow.  I
can't imagine you'd ever see them change during a normal race setting, of
course - I was thrashing the tires on purpose.  Bear in mind I had ABS
and throttle aids OFF - I've never seen the TWI's change with them on.
Anyways, just wanted to let everyone know that it's not a disabled
function - you can see it, but you've got to work at it! ;-)

How and/or where do you see these bar??
I have looked really carefully, but I can't see any bars anywhere. Are you
in***pit when you see them? Or are you an "outracer"? Do you have to turn
something on for these bars to show?

Its right in front of you on the steering wheel in the in-car view.  If
you're an "outracer" you might never have noticed.  Also, I have***pit
detail settings at high... not sure if it goes away at lower detail
settings.

says...

They are the vertical bars right next to the tire "blocks" on your
steering wheel. They are typically green, but as I said, with a little
"encouragement", you can get them to change...!

How they're used is this: the tires may heat up and cool down during the
course of the race.  But if those indicators get "up there", your tires
are shot - they will not (should not?) get better.  Time for a set of
stickers!

I have run some races at 30% distance with tyre wear at 3x and the bars will
turn yellow after about 7 laps(Silverstone) if you are pushing hard. I dont
know how far you have to go to turn them red but at yellow the car is
definitely getting a bit 'greasy'. I did set tyre wear to 7x the other day
and rode with an AI car - I don't remember how many laps but eventually the
bars turned red. At this stage 'he' was having some difficulty controlling
the car and was only using up to 6th gear.
Cheers, Andrew.

Tire wear indicators in F1-2K - They DO work

These indicators and the rest on the steering wheel used to work fine for
me, but then I installed the latest tnt detonator driver. My whole wheel
went blank. I then downlaoded and installed dx7a, this got my "wheel screen"
going again, but I have not seen any life out of the tyre indicators or
anything else on the wheel since.

Does anyone know how to fix this?
