Can someone explain tire wear in F1-2001

My German manual say that setting the tire wear, fuel use etc. to 7x
replicates the normal situation for an F1 car.  Is this a typo, or does ISI
have some interesting logic?  It seems to me 1x would be the right setting
for a full race, then you could play with this number if you run shorter
races.

The English manual states "normal" as the default (implied as 1x).  It also
states "Set the tire wear rate from NOTHING to FACTORS OF UP TO SEVEN TIMES
THAT FOUND IN real Formula one racing."  I suspect that this line was
improperly translated in the German manual.  Normal is 1x which is realistic
fuel/tire wear.
