I was on www.theuspits.com and saw that they posted pole
and race times for Le Mans for the 1967 season? Why was
then Le Mans ommitted from the game. Or was GPL really
based on the 1966 seazon?

GPL stands for Grand Prix Legends.  Grand Prix is a completely different
sport than LeMans.  Completely different cars and drivers.  LeMans is a race
that takes place in France and last for 24 hours.  Grand Prix Legends is
based on Formula 1 races during the 1967 season.

LeMans is in there because the French round of the 67 WC was there... not on
the Sports car circuit, but a different one that apparently was lame. The
track wasn't included in GPL because of this lameness, so a real French
circuit (Rouen) was substituted. They raced at Rouen before and after 67.

Well yes and no Doug..

There was back in 1967 "two" LeMans race.  What he is talking is the Formula
1 event that was raced on the Bugatti circuit back in 1967 for the F1
season.  The Bugatti uses parts of the front-stretch and goes into some
parking lot I think after.  Because they didn't run at Rouen back in 1967.
Papyrus decided to not include Bugatti because it was simply boring (never
heard of other reasons).

i heard it was to do with copyright etc, same reasons as cooper and honda
are not in the game (til we patched it), it maybe due to how boring the race
was, however it would be nice to have the real circuit (dave!!!!!!)

The Bugatti track was the original "Micky Mouse" circuit, a phrase coined by
Black Jack himself, I believe.

Le Mans in GPL?

Hmm... very to-the-point reply, but a bit wrong really.

The 1967 French GP was held at the Le Mans "Bugatti" circuit, which
included part of the front stretch of the main track. The track was,
well, crap, and totally unworthy of the race at a time when it could be
held at Rouen or Clermont-Ferrand.
It seems Papy agreed and decided to include Rouen instead.

The "Le Mans" circuit referred to is the horrible little blot on the
landscape called the "Le Mans - Bugatti" track......not the layout used for
the 24 Hours race.

It was omitted by Papyrus because they considered it to be unworthy of
inclusion.....thank God!!  Even the drivers back then hated the track and JB
dubbed it a "Mickey Mouse" layout.

Doug, he's referring to the Le Mans - Bugatti circuit, on which the 1967 F1
race was held.

It (the real circuit) is as boring as hell and you would fall asleep before
completing a full-length race on it.

lol um....... wrong! the Le Mans track was used in an F1 race in 1967,
Papyrus replaced it with Rouen (which was 1966 and 1968 race location)
because Le Mans was considered boring (tsk.)

Magny-Cours was first used in 1991, I presume it was built then too, I think
first race there was International F3000.

Boy, has this Bugatti circuit taken Pepper! :-)
To all of you; it is just as "boring" as 95% of the tracks on todays F1
circuit.......

But it does have lots of overtaking spots, and the soul who can come up to me
and call the righthander after the pit straight boring, with or without
chicane, is a raving lunatic! :-D

Erm,...IMO!
