Yeah..

Turn on some AI and watch your framerates go to nothing.
Got to give it to them, they kept that old Nascar engine going for a long
time now.

Isn't GPL's GFX locked at 30 FPS ?? I have a PII 450 with 2xDiamond Voodoo2
in SLI and the most i get in ANY resolution is 30 FPS and thats with 7 or 8
AI drivers. Like this guy said, bump up the AI drivers numbers and down the
tubes goes the FPS

Cheers
Christo

Odd, I have two machines, a P2 450 w/ 2-12meg V2s and a Celeron o/c'd
to 450 with a STB 4400 TNT and one 12meg V2. I run with all graphics
on the P2 450, 19 drivers, and whenever I check both are bouncing at
35.xx FPS. On the celeron I have some of the "mirror" options turned
off, but thats it...

Um.  for you maybe, but for me I can run with a full field with FULL
graphic detail and only lose frames on the start.  Even then, it is only
at 25-30 for a few seconds.  Then it shoots back up to 35-36.  It is so
different from the "Nascar engine" you refer to, it makes me think you
have never even TRIED GPL.  Give it a shot sometime. You might like it.

I'm sorry to say that it must be your configuration. My new PII 450 with
one 12MB Diamond Voodoo II runs at 36 fps, except at the start (back of

fps with 24 fps  at the BOG.
That's without trying the tip from rrevved. I'm off to try it now...
  Thanks rrevved!
