Hi,
I tried the GPL 1.1 patch yesterday night for the first time in an
online game and I have to say that it was the best online racing
experience I ever had!! It was so close to racing on a LAN,
I was simply delited. Now, of course, I can't say if the great
performance was due to the patch or just because I had a
phemomenal connection to the server ( but don't think so, the
server was in the US and I am in Germany).
I couldn't descern any problems with the patch, although I
haven't tried it much, yet.
Any other GPL'ers who had an improved online experience
or was it just me? I read so many negative posts here, weird,
I had none of the problems. Even reinstalling the old sound
and car patches gave no (great) problems.

Ditto.
I tried it at a host where I've had a lot of races, and, with V1.0, another racer connecting with a bad connection, would make my game choppy. Now, with V1.1 gameplay was smooth throughout. I spent the race dicing with a Fin (I'm in Belgium, host: west coast US) and he was solid as a rock (position wise.... he cracked in the end ;-)).
Very happy with the patch so far and I'm off to the shop on Monday morning to get a FF wheel!!!

Are you using George Smiley's glidewrapper? If so, you need to disable
the GPL Overide in the glide.ini file.

I actually re-installed GPL from sctratch before applying the patch because
I knew that the old 3rd party patches may be incompatible.
The menus are full screen and the game is 1024 x 768.
Try a clean installation of GPL.
