Another possibility -- but you've checked this, right? -- is that you
are running in one of the lesser car modes -- Advanced Trainer or
Novice Trainer. These cars only rev to about half of what the F1 cars
do -- and they have fewer gears as well. (From memory, so I am
probably wrong aboput both the class names and the number of gears.
Memory ain't what it used to be, as far as I remember.)
