You have the p3 hosting, right?

You have the GP3 patch? Or on GP3 2000?

The graphics settings of the slowest computer will determine what
speed it runs at. So if you can only use 640x480 on the celeron but
1280x1024 on the P3 (in single player), you will have to use 640x480
on both machines when networked.

Set the p3 to the celeron's specs and you should be right.

GP3 over LAN

Hi I have just set up a 100mbit LAN connecting my two PC's

One is a celeron 333 with 128 meg RAM, the other is a P3-850 with
128meg RAM

I have GP3 on both machines

The machines will talk to each other ok in TCP/IP mode but after
loading the track on both PC's the game suddenly goes to a crawl, with
the start of the race ie. all the red lights going to green lights
taking somewhere around 5 mins! the game becomes unplayable. when
manouvering around the menus etc to choose drivers etc it is fast

Can someone please give me some hints

Thanks for the info Rafe

I will try your suggestions

I was running the P3 in 1024x768 but the Celeron was running in a
different mode

Hopefully that will solve my probs
