You know Im always right Travis ;-)
I would say download the F1RS demo (or the MGPSR2), judge by yourself and if
you don't like it get Grand Prix 2.
GP2 is starting to get a little old (similar to Icr2 in the "oldiness"), but
it's game engine is still great and the almost infinite number of created
tracks and utilities makes for tons and tons of Entertainment hours. There
is great "year" patch that changes every track, cars, and physics to create
fun and different challenges.

Thanks for the comparison of the two. I'm gonna download the F1RS demo, but
probably end up buying GP2 just because of the facts you stated, plus it has
more file support on the net.
Can I still buy GP2? What 3D video card works best with it (if it is 3D).
Is it a good game? I enjoy F1RS and Monaco, and GPL, if I ever got a decent
wheel. Would I enjoy GP2.
By the way, I have Monster3D II (sli), a Viper550, 128 megs of ram, and a
PII 450.
You'll have to ask an F1 driver for a realistic answer :)
Personally I think gp2 recreates the feel of formula one better even though
F1RS may be more mathematically correct.
I get the feeling that ubi soft just got some data of renault and whaked it
into the code and there you have your game. Too bad for those of us that
actually wanted to feel some of the pressure and intensity a real driver
goes through, or actually have fun! Ive been playing gp2 on and off since it
came out and little details crop up that I still didn't know could happen in
the game.
The AI in gp2 is much more human than the mindless drones that go around on
rails in F1RS. About the only thing F1RS has over gp2 is accelerated
graphics, even then the models seem "small?". I read that one of the
developers say the only unrealistic thing is that you can see more than an
F1 driver, the way you can see either side of the tires is helpful but
unrealistic and gives the tracks and cars a small look and makes accurate
driving difficult. Gp2's engine and skid sound arent the greatest but give
you much more feedback than any game while F1RS sound like a synthiszer with
a cold.
Also im in a typing mood so here is a quote from Pommie Aussie V8 Racer
Russel Ingall.
"I enjoy Grand Prix 2 the most because, as a driver, I appreciate how
technical it is. Just from a basic technical point of view, GP2 was much
better than F1RS. It reacted much better to what you did to the cars. F1 had
better graphics but the car set-up was not as good by a longshot -
adjustments to the car didn't have the effect they were meant to. I was a
little dissapointed.
I use GP2 on the longer races, like six*** laps, for concertration
training. You have to stay consistent and focussed, just like in a real
race."
Phew that was a lot eh! Please don't flame me ubi lovers I was really
looking forward to this game when it was comeing out so long ago and I was
just realy dissapointed that it wasn't better than Gp2.

Berno

If GP2 is unrealistic I wonder what that makes F1RS!!!!

BTW, the reason I gave the one word response is that anyone who
read even a little about F1RS would know all this already :-)
I am a big modern F1 sim racer (I even tried Road & Tracks GP)
and IMHO the only sim with it all is F1RS (or MGPRS2 if you can't
find F1RS). Notice I said 'modern'. I have never even tried GPL
because I am not into that era of racing.
