Need help with Nascar2

I just got it for Christmas and installed it on my machine which is a
Dell 486/66 which I upgraded with an overdrive processor chip 586/133
from Kingston.  I have Windows95 running with 16MB of RAM and a double
speed CD-Rom drive; all of which meet or exceed the minimum
requirements. Everything seems to work fine in the game except for the
steering ( I have a T2 Thrustmaster wheel and pedal setup ).  When I
come out of a corner and onto a straight away the steering seems to
oscillate back and forth until it dampens out even while holding the
wheel perfectly still in a straight forward position.  I suspected frame
rates and have done some searching around on the web and on Sierras tech
pages to get some indicators.  I have adjusted the frame rates and
lowered the number of opponents seen and heard forward and rear and
turned off almost all of the textures but the problem still persists.  I
tend to suspect the speed of the CD-Rom drive and am considering an
upgrade to an 8 speed.  Can anyone shed some light ob this one for me?
Thanks a bunch in advance for any input, ideas or advice.

Is the steering oscillating back and forth, or is the car sliding back
and forth? Try loading one of the more stable setups (like Easy) and
see if the problem persists. You could also try a more gentle
application of throttle, as getting on the gas too early or too
forcefully will upset the car...

The CD is not used at all once you are at the track, so upgrading your
CD-ROM will do NOTHING to help this problem...

Turn off the steering help option/.  It right in there with brake help and
shifting help.  I think ALT-S will toggle it as well.

Speed of your CD-ROM will not do anything for the sim's performance.
The only improvement you will see is less time waiting for the track to
load before racing.  Once you enter the track the CD-ROM is not
accessed, except for loading different portions of the game when you
exit the track.

Have your tried running by forcing a boot to DOS?  Try this out, you may
be experiencing problems with Win95 handling the joystick routine.  You
maybe experiencing a "dirty" potentiometer on your T2 steering wheel.
What do you have the car steering lock set up for?  When you bumped up
the speed of your machine, the ISA board maybe running too fast.  Check
and see if you can slow it down in the BIOS.  It is possible that your
joystick port can't handle the speed your computer is now running and
may need to get a dedicated controller card.

These are just some suggestions.  Hope you get the problem solved.

Hi JB I have a T2 also and have the same probs as you. I don't think its
caused by a loose setup and i've recalibrated  the T2 several times. I
never had this problem with N1. A friend of mine uses a joystick and has
same problem as us. Might be a bug...hopefully a patch will be on its
way soon! Good luck and please email me if you fix your problem.

Don't think the cd is a problem, but if you suspect it, do a full install
if you have hd room.  By the way I had similar steering problems with an
old off-brand wheel.  Just bought a new TM Grand Prix 1 and steering is
great.  If only this driver could master those road courses...

Had the same problem with T-2.  Instead of setting control option to
"wheel" select "joykstick."  This appears to me to be the old linear vs
non linear option and for some reason it works in reverse for me. Give
it a try.

Another solution is to change the checked box in the options/controls menu
to Wheel instead of Joystick/Keyboard. This is Papyrus' new way of saying
"Linear or Non-Linear"

Are you running N2 in Windows95 or in a DOS session.  I found steering
irratic in Win95.  I've gotten much better success in DOS mode.
