Bell Atlantic sucks.  G_Major, you probably remember my story with Bell
Atlantic over in Jacobs group. =)

My sister works for the company and I threatened to sue her too.  ROFLMAO

The only thing I have from BA is my local service, and If Sprint ever moves
into the area for local service, Ill drop BA for that too just because I
don't want to give a nickel to that damn company.

Bell Atlantic.. Just don't <VBG>

WIDESPREAD INCOMPETENCE AT BELL ATLANTIC

If it were not widespread, there would not be a class action lawsuit
against Bell Atlantic, the FCC wouldn't be investigating Bell Atlantic, and
you wouldn't see articles in the NY Times and other major East Coast
newspapers with articles about widespread DSL outages and Bell Atlantic
removing businesses from directories when they switch to a competing local
phone service provider.

Here, Ill share my horror story again <VBG>

I had the choice between 3 DSL providers and 2 cable providers at the time.
I now have 4 DSL providers to choose from.  I was planning on moving this
summer (which has now been delayed until at least next summer) so I did not
want to sign a DSL contract.  The one cable provider ISP sucks (i know..
use to have them) and the other was 1-way only.  So, I decided to order an
ISDN line from Hell Atlantic.

Well, I ended up with NO phone service at all for over 3 days!  I cancelled
the ISDN after they flubbed up the installation. I lost $50 on the ISDN
modem I bought and had to sell on EBAY at a loss.  As I cancelled ISDN, the
customer service informed me DSL by BA was now available in my area. (Im
only 1300 ft from the CO).  I said I dont want to sign a contract as I will
probably be moving.  They said no contract and no installation fee.  $49.99
a month.  So I signed up.  I received CD-Rom with WinPoet on it (First sign
of shitty DSL service is using this ***software) and my microfilters and
external modem.  Installation was no problem and Service was available the
day they said it would.  First 8 days worked with no problem.  Maybe 1 hour
of downtime.  Well, I ended up with NO SERVICE for 28 out of the 29 days I
had BA.  I cancelled on day 29 to make sure I got my refund for the modem.

3 hour waits on the phone, tech support reps who know nothing but to read
from the script they have in front of them (uninstall winpoet, uninstall
communications in windows, reinstall...  doesn't work.. oops, we must be
having a network problem).  After 3 weeks of repeating the same ***of
telling their support I already reinstalled and by reading DSL Reports and
seeing 1/2 of PA and NY was without DSL service.. it was pretty obvious BA
had no clue what the hell they were doing.

After I found out I was not going to be moving, I ordered DSL through
Fast.net (COVAD) who installed a separate line and no WinPoet ***software
to deal with.  1.5Mps/384 service.  Its been flawless outside a few hours
of downtime on my email as they upgraded the server.

THEN, the Bell Atlantic morons tried to bill me for ISDN installation,
First month of DSL, My basic telephone installation, and they cancelled by
long distance plan with AT&T!!

Unfortunately, if you read DSL Reports, this is NOT an uncommon situation
with Bell Atlantic.

Got a spare room?<g>  Metro Detroit here.  Lowest station around me
today raised their price from $1.99 yesterday, to $2.09.  It's downright
sickening...

Can this discussion on gas prices stop right now!

Over here in the UK we're paying over 4.00 a gallon - convert that into
bucks and shove it in your tank! ;-)

I've often wondered about that, so I guess now's the best time to ask!
What is the reason for the big price jump once one gets to Europe?  Is
it due to local taxes, national taxes, or are the oil companies raping
you guys even worse than they are us?

All of them I think... prices are getting ridiculous these days. I
believe the taxes are higher than the value of the fuel itself...
Thank Cassidy (thank God I mean) my boss pays my fuel...
