Anyone else notice this when running from Win95

Hi,  I run Nascar2 from win95 (I have a PPRO 200, it seems to run smoother
in win95) and when I reinstalled the game/patch, I got a message informing
me that some special FX may not be noticed if not running with 256 colors
(I run 16bit).  Anyway this sparked my interest so I lowered my resolution
to 256 colors and ran the game.  My question is does it make a difference
the # of colors I'm running in win95?  It does seem to run smoother but I
have not noticed any other differences.  Chris.
