HELP, N2 to run from Win95, I can't doit!!!!

by Soll » Wed, 05 Mar 1997 04:00:00

I just got N2, but I can't get it to run from Win95.  I know someone will
say "USE DOS" But I want to run
on a 2 person IPX network, and I don't have a dos network shell.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

It is more than likely a video problem. You may need to get a new video card,
one with 4 megs of RAM, and that use something beside the S3 chipset. I had a
Hercules card that use the S3 video chipset and I could not run N2 from Win95.
Got the Screamin' 3D card, and it worked like a champ.

Both of my work machines have 2MB S3 cards in (both happen to be
Diamond) and my home machine also has a DStealth (S3-based) card.
While it may be true that your particular problem is video related
(tried any updated drivers?), it is NOT the case that N2 doesn't work
on S3 cards.

Of course, I won't mind if you buy that card, but you don't need to
buy it to run in Win95. :-)
