RENDITION READY CART RACING WITH 3DB V1K CARD

by rdm » Thu, 17 Jun 1999 04:00:00

I have a P2/333 Win98 system with a Creative 3DB 4MB V1K card and a Creative
8MB V2 card.
I cannot get the Rendition ready version of Cart Racing (ICR2) to run at
all, either reboot to MSDOS mode, reboot to dos (F8) or with use of a dos
boot disk.
Using the cartfast.bat file, either with speedy3d_mem=4 or not, all I get is
the Rendition logo, then a black screen lockup when it tries to load the
cart.exe file.
At this time the green power indicator light on my Creative Pacific monitor
flickers between green and orange, nothing else happens (apart from me
cursing !).
I tried changing the 3dbv1k drivers back to the 1997 beta2 reference drivers
but no difference ?
No good using the rendbat.bat file or just the cart.exe file either.
Using the cart.exe file in dos, I can see the sound card line loading, then
the monitor clicks, then I get the black screen lockup.
The Win95 version is the only one that works.
Any help would be sincerely appreciated, thank you.

Bob McIntosh.

Can you get the Dos version to run from within Windows?

Mine runs with the "suggest MSDOS mode as necessary" selected.

However I can't run from Reboot-F8 or Boot disk.

My problem occured when I switched from an old SB-16 to an SB-16 pnp.

My system locks up after the line about the sound card.

Sounds like neither of you have dos drivers installed in
your msdos.ini file (or whatever it is called...where is
Marc J. Nelson when you need him.)
Also, I haven't heard of anyone getting the Rendition
version to run EXCEPT in a dos boot,  If you can get
the Rendition version to run from a windows shortcut,
good job...:)
