Indy Car Racing 2 Rendition Ready tracks question

by Chri » Sat, 25 Mar 2000 04:00:00

I know I at one time owned this title because it came with my sierra screamin
3d card. You know the one they soon stopped supporting, anyway I think it is
buried in a closet in my ba***t. Is there a way to post the tracks in a zip
format for the people that need it? If I can locate the disc I would gladly do
that for everyone, but I need to know how. I'll check tonite, please let me
know. Also how does the converter work a rendition ready title through the
voodoo 2 card I have. Is it D3D, and I was just unaware?

Thanks
Chris

I have my old Rendition card gathering dust (well, maybe not getting dusty,
since it's in the static free bag it came in originally). And I have the CDs
that came with it, including the "Rendition Ready" ICR2. I used this version
of  ICR2 as the source for the GPL converter. The good news is that the
tracks work fine on a Voodoo2 (I have a 12mb Diamond Monster II). The bad
news is that not all the tracks have the "HQ" (high quality) graphics. I
have tried to use the graphics add-on files from the Alison Hine site, but
so far I haven't had any luck getting all the bat files to work properly.

However, I have been running my NASCAR cars on the "low quality" Long Beach
and Cleveland since the TPTCC series came out, and after a while you hardly
notice the difference.

So go dig through that closet and find that CD. Finally you will get some
use from it!!

Update!! On the third try I was able to get the "HQ" installation to work on
the six tracks of ICR2 that didn't come with a High Quality version. Thanks
to Alison et al for providing these files. They make the GPL converter a
even better deal!!

I was wondering too if you need a rendition card to run the
rendition accelerated tracks from Cart racing.I was about to sell mine
for a V3 and now Im stumped.

Also why cant someone who has the Rendition ready CD just upload the
rendition file so we can all download it?

I even have the (imagined?) impression that the enhanced tracks run
smoother
than the other ones.

Great stuff!
