Anyone know where it can be downloaded? If you have used it, does it
work and how well? Thanks!

Both work well for my S3 864 card.

reconfig univbe and put files in nascar2 dir
have s3vbe20 /install in autoexec.bat
have fastvid in autoexec.bat (for pros)
<may need a reset now>
do not need to run univbe at all from now on
files
s3vbe20: http://www.s3.com/bbs/shrware/index.htm want s3vbe311.zip
univbe : http://www.scitechsoft.com/sdddown.html want sdd53a-d.zip
fastvid: http://members.aol.com/JHinkley/FastVid read the info
note, i'm running dual boot to dos 6.22 or NT 4.0, NT does not see my
autoexec.bat

MCLK is a program for overclocking your s3 or Cirrus Logic -based
display card. Very effective, when carefully used. S3SPDUP enhances
some things in s3 cards, but to my experience, you get better results
with MCLK. Search the web with program names.

Thanks for the great reply! got a few questions...
Got any experience with doing above with Indycar Racing II (also runs
univibe)? My key game is Grand Prix 2. Got any info on whether this
will help/hurt or even work with that program?
What does pros mean?
I'm assuming you run all 3 add-ons simultaneously, correct?
Thanks for the detailed response!!

http://wwwmath.uni-muenster.de/~mesched
Try the S3 site support site, all the drivers are there at:

Not got any of the indycar games. Have GP2 but dont play it, mainly
because you have to set the frame rate. Dont think gp2 runs univbe so
dont need it. Should work fine with s3vbe20.
Pentium Pro, FastVid makes the graphics on them a bit quicker. FastVid
not to be used if you dont have a Pentium Pro (P6)
To my horror! i found NT looks at my autoexec!!!! ;)
Dont run univbe after putting thoses files in nascar2 dir as nascar2
sorts all that out, just run s3vbe20 and then fastvid.

Thanks for the post, Sam. But can I just get this straight? I have a Diamond
Stealth 3D 2000 based on the S3 Virge chip which is only Vesa 1.2 compliant.
So do I need the s3vbe20 or the Univbe driver which is now called Scitech's
Display Doctor.

I've tried running GP2 with s3vbe20 installed, but i don't see a
change. I recorded the cpu occupancy and suggested frame rate numbers
before and after the install, and it doesn't change while running GP2
in Win '95 or dos. the install goes o.k. (all 2.0 options reported as
"on," and running "s3vbe20 /check" reports back installed!)
I have a gateway with an STB 864 card (2 yrs. old). Is it possible
this card isn't running vbe 1.2 at all (how can I tell? will the 2.0
core install give notice if 1.2 is not in place?)
In other words, is there a way to measure or witness the improvement
with the installation of 2.0?
Although I haven't installed univibe and tried running GP2 yet, how
might univibe and s3vbe20 work together? will GP2 work with either or
both? Must GP2 recognize and "plug-in" to univibe for it to have any
effect? (Sorry if I sound confused... I am, a bit!)
