I, like many other CK'ers, I'm sure, have thought about buying this card
and while I can't help you directly, I can say I've seen a lot of
postings like this about this card.  Also I've heard "hardware" stores
tell me they've stopped carrying Diamond over this card.  Computer ***
World, when discussing video cards (in its Dec. issue, I think) pointed
out something similar and says manufacturers are shying away from
supporting this particular chip.  It may be more true about earlier
boards than recently manufactured ones, but you just bought yours. Of
course many people have no trouble at all, I'm sure, and perhaps one of
them knows some little thing you're doing wrong..wrong drivers etc......I
couldn't say, given no experience with the card.

I know that if I were you, I'd return the board, get a refund, and either
buy the ATI Graphix Xpressions (slightly cheaper, equal Windows , faster
DOS speed, and better driver software UNLESS you're into CK, in which
case I'd scrape up the money for a Diamond Stealth 64 VRAM card, which
uses the S3 968 chip and has an excellent reputation (fastest commonly
avail. card going, too, for Windows, except the MGA Matrox Millenium.)Of
course you can always wait for the soon-to-arrive 3D wave....

If you do get it sorted out, I'd appreciate a posting or e-mail about
what happened.  Good luck :-).

Nascar works perfect on my VLB S64 Video VRAM and every other game, very
quickly.
I'm boycotting the Pentium since it is just a hybrid 32/64 bit gateway to
Intel's P6 so I'm running an overclocked Intel DX4-100.
Nope, never a problem for me.
By the Way...
The S64 Video VRAM uses the 968 not 868.

You may encounter this...don't do the stupid thing I did >:>

With 2 laps to go in a "season" race at Talladega, the caution flew
out...I was in first at the time...and basically was going to sail to
the win.

I had a car (Mikey Waltrip, in fact) on the tail-end of the lead lap,
between me and Elmo. I ran the caution out to the checkered, then sped
on by Mikey and Elmo...and guess what...Mikey just FLAT STOPPED and the
game locked, with everyone in the pits (including me) and Mikey sitting
on the racecourse in turn 1, all by himself.

I didn't get the victory...just had to reboot.

Lesson:Even after the checkered, DON'T PASS UNDER CAUTION...it messes
up the AI.

I did manage to get Nascar running in a DOS box in OS/2 Warp, but haven't yet succeeded to
get it running in plain DOS.
Guess I'll have to look into my otherwise very stable plain DOS' memory configuration.
