Hello,

I've been enjoying NASCAR racing for the past few weeks
now, almost exclusively at MIS (since I live right down the road
from it! :)    I'm using the formula t-1 drive wheel, which is great,
but I can't seem to get the hang of steering as well as I'd like to.
Specifically, I have trouble running tight against the wall without
hitting it, which is frustrating.  Also, when I'm drafting behind
other drivers, my car seems to "flip" back and forth.  When I
watch the replays, other cars stick really tight with each other,
and mine is all over the road.  I'm using decent car setups, and
I have practiced enough where I think I'm a fairly good driver -
but like I said, I can't figure out why I can't steer better.  It seems
like it's a little too sensitive or something...

I guess I'm just wondering if anybody has any clues or hints or
suggestions for me.  Is it my car, or my driving, or the t-1 wheel,
or just my imagination?

Having said all that, I must say that it's truly an awesome game!
Maybe I'm being to perfectionistic....

Make sure that you are using the linear steering option.  Secondly check
your wheel lock in your setup, perhaps it is set too high.

Yup, I'm using linear steering....  I will try to play with the wheel lock
a little more, but I was wondering - doesn't this adjust the outmost
degree to which you can turn your wheels?  If so, would that still have
an effect on "precise steering" where you aren't doing sharp cornering,
but rather trying to stay directly behind somebody on a straightaway?

Well, the wheel loack adjusts how far your wheels turn from one extreme
to the other on your steering wheel movements.  Thus with a low wheel
lock more physical movement of the steering wheel will be necessary to
move the tires.  With a very large wheel lock, even small movements of
the steering wheel can result it erratic car movements.  At Michigan I
believe I use 10 degrees but I'm not sure.  By the way, my setup for
Michigan was posted a day or two ago and I never had any trouble with it.

I hadn't given this much thought, but I do remember reading about it.
I'm using the joystick port on my PAS/16.  But I did try to re-adjust
the wheel lock like a few people suggested, and that seemed to make
quite a difference....

No, but I'll give it a try...  No, just NASCAR...

This is an interesting idea..  What happens if you use the wheel
in non-linear mode?  I think I'll do this, just to see how it is..  I
already adjusted my steering lock down to 10 degrees, per the
advice of some other kind folks, and that itself helped quite a bit.

I have my T1 steering lock set to about 20 degrees and it seems
quite stable how does this compare to REAL nascar steering lock?
