The drafting model is also totally screwed up and I for one wont race again
because of it.

Having more fun in Medal of Honor than N2002.

Never really got into shooter type games. I have been messing around with
Dungeon Siege as a break from racing.  If I ever finish it I might give
Neverwinter Nights a try. The best part is by the time I'm ready to play it
It should be in the discount bin :)

Medal of Honor is fantastic IMHO...

Medal of Honor is fun if you don't mind the arcade damage model.  It's
also very short.  After installing one of the patches, all of my saved
games were unusable, and I managed to start over from the beginning
and beat the entire game in about 5-6 hours.

Personally, I think Op Flashpoint is the only really worthwhile FPS at
the moment, if you're a fan of realism.  Shame the vehicle models
suck.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. There's only two things N2002
does better than F12002. Replays (big deal) and multiplay.

Let me initially say that i'm not disagreeing with you Scott.  Would you
mind providing me with some examples of poorly done corners and sections?
Not that I know any better, but I'm just curious.

It's the multiplay we're talking about, THAT's the big deal

The post I replied to had comments by Doug and Steve which slagged F12002.
Steve said, "And F1
2002 has some nice bits, but it's really just not on the same level,
product-wise, as NR2002. " Doug says in many posts that F12002 is not that
good of a sim.

I had/have a lot of fun with F1 2002, but allready play it less and
less. The more I race against the AI, the more I think they suck, and
well, the multiplayer isn't exactly multiplayer heaven.
Such a damn shame, F1 2002 is such a ***y good and fun sim, but
without good AI and multiplayer it's getting boring rather quickly :-/

Mmmm..

My wishlist for the best sim from combined from the current crop would
be:

Graphics: N2002
Sound: N2002
AI: GP4 (F1RC Qualifying)
Weather: GP4
Rules implementation: N2002
Replays: N2002
Physics: N2002 (parameters for an open wheeler or touring/sports car)
Menu/Navigation: N2002
Controller Config: N2002
Capability for Mods: F12002
Multiplayer: N2002
Force Feedback: F12002/N2002 ??

So a Cart sim from Papy, with a weather system & AI to rival GP4 and an
open capability for mods, whilst retaining a controlled cheat proof
multiplayer system will do me nicely :-)

I've been tempted to record the audio from a race at Monaco.

Before lap 1:

Michael Schumacher has lost his rear wing.
Schumacher has lost his front wing.
Fisichella is unable to continue.
David Coulthard has lost his rear wing.
Heinz Harold Frentzen is unable to continue.

After a 50% race at Monaco there's normally 1 car on the lead lap. and
half the field has dropped out after accidents in the first 2 laps.
That's ridiculous.

If the demo is anything to go by I'd say there's a whole bunch of things
N2002 does miles better than F2002.
(as for the final product i wouldn't know - I've not tested it. Nor do I
plan to for that matter, until "someone" realises (sp?) what sim racing is
really about.)

Why can't anybody but Papy seem to get controller config right. It worked
great in GPL, and it's just as good if not better in N2002. Other than a few
people who lose calibration occasionally, it's virtually flawless. Seems
like every other game out there requires hacking around in INI files to even
get a wheel to work (GPL requires that for FF, but that's because FF came
out in a patch).

Controller problems severely limited my enjoyment of F1 2001.

I can say wholeheartedly, that I have not had similar problem in F1
2002.  The half-travel split-axis problem is history (and it now works
correctly by default!), the problems I had with the controls not
working in training mode are gone (I never really understood that) and
without messing about much with controller rates, I've managed to get
a very Papyrus-like feel by setting everything as low as it will go
with axis sensitivity at 25% for all axes.  Seriously, ISI sims have
never felt this good before.

That said, I lose my controller calibration constantly in N2002, but I
still prefer that to the ISI style setup.
