rec.autos.simulators

The version of gpl.exe I have is 0.2.0.0.  I have tried both the gpl11
and the gpl12 patches (american), and they indicate that the exe is
not the right version to upgrade.  The problem I'm having within the
game itself is that when I turn on track textures and the groove,
instead of clear pictures I get psychedelic, iridescent pictures.  (my
card is voodoo3 3000, and I have direct x 7.1 and have updated with
the latest drivers from 3dfx)

Could I have a corrupted exe?

I bought this cd from a friend and I don't know where he got it.

(It's an unbelievable game btw.  Best sim by far!)

Also, can anyone access www.theuspits.com ?  I've tried clearing
history in IE and also deleting all the files in the temp internet
folder in windows, and I still get the 24 hours down page.  I'd love
to try Brands Hatch and Oster(something) and I understand that they
can be found at The Pits web site.

Version 0.2.0.0 is a pre-release, beta version of GPL that made it into the
warez world.  Ask your friend for your money back, and go buy a legal copy
of the game.  You'll then be able to apply the patch.

The 1.2 patch will fix the corruption problem.

Copy the existing exe file from the CD and re-install the 1.2 patch. This
worked for me.
