T2 wheel/pedal combo impressions

Just purchased Thrustmaster's T2 wheel/pedal combo last night
for $149.  Got the Nascar Track Pack and ICR2 also.

I liked the steering wheel immediately.  That's what I've
wanted for 2 years now.  The foot pedals, however seemed
really slippery.  I had to take my socks off and go barefoot.
Anybody else do this?  Howabout wearing shoes?  Anyways, it
also slid around a lot on the carpet.  I put the *** sticky
feet on the bottom and it helped, but it still pivoted to the
right as I pressed the gas.  I'd also like the brake to be
further away from the gas pedal.  I'd rather use my left foot
for braking instead of heel-toeing or letting off the gas
totally.  There is an empty slot all the way to the left and
looks like it could accept a pedal.  Anybody know what that's
for?

I need to log more time before I can pass judgement on it.  I
love the steering and shifting.  I just push/pull on the stick
with my right pinky to shift.  It's so smooth!  I need to see
if this affects any of my setups, since I've been using a
joystick for 2 years now.

Glad I found this newsgroup last week.  I just stumbled onto
it and I've found all the info to be very helpful.  That's
how learned of the T2 and Hawaii.  I might soon check out the
Hawaii thing, but am worried about the silly crash stuff.  Any
net wisdom is greatly appreciated!

Seems to be really popular to use the T2 wheel with the T1
pedals.

I have the T1..I like the pedals( I have my friends T2 pedals
too) but hate the wheel...I am looking to get the TSW..its
$300, but smooth as silk.( I guess it should be<G>)

I drive without shoes. With the shoes on I just couldn't tell how much
pressure I was putting on the pedals because of their variable position.
I wonder why they didn't put real racing pedals instead of those weird
ones. The springs really bother me.

Yup, I'm a barefoot rider myself! ;>
Only way to get any grip on the pedals in my view.

Bill.

I too drive without shoes. Both in sim-life (with my ECCI CDS) and way
back AGES ago when I last drove a car (when I was learning: couldn't
get the clutch with shoes on!).

I tried bearfoot, and socks. But slippers is the way to go for
me, being thinner than shoes you get more control, and you
don't get cold feet!!
