Wheel pedal combo's required!!!

by Grant Christense » Thu, 02 May 1996 04:00:00

I am intending to purchase a wheel and pedle combo or either separate
within the next month.  I have read various post about some of the models
on the market and was wondering if someone could supply me with the web
address of the manufactures.  As many as posible would be good.

Thanks, Grant.

Wheel pedal combo's required!!!

Grant, I just bought a TSW from a guy names Trevor at The TSW Co. in the
states, and let me tell you, I have been racing multiplayer races with my mate
for the last 4 nights for 2 hours a night.  Wow, what a thrill.  I would
recommend the TSW highly to ANYONE who is looking for a wheel/peddal combo.
The price is $295, comes with a 30 day money back warrenty, one year against
defects, and for life against mechanical failure, (hardware not electronics).
And for a fee they offer a one year tune-up which includes complete
dissasembly, clean and lubricate, and replace all elactronics, and renews the
1 year warrenty.

There are two ways to reach the TSW Co

good luck

Sounds like you already know a bit about the various models, so I'll
just point you in the direction of the Extreme Competition Controls'
CDS kit:

Do you know if their wheel will work with the pedals from
the T2 setup?  And with the Thrustmaster adaptor?  The wheel looks and
sounds great, and for $350 I just might consider it, but another $200
for pedals I already have is pushing it...

I don't see why not, dependant on a few factors.

The CDS system comes in two halfs as you know. Each has its own
joystick plug on a nice long cable. Thus you need two sockets to plug
it into your computer. A CH Gamecard III or equivalent, with dual
ports, is recommended and is what I purchased, as opposed to using the
single input available on my AWE32 soundcard.

The wheel has 4 buttons on it. You *will* need 2 ports to fully
utilise these. If you use an adaptor for two plugs into one soundcard
port, for instance, I believe it will work, at the cost of losing the
functions on the inboard set of buttons. And that's IFF (sic) the
connections are wired up correctly. Mind you, you can currently only
use one of these inboard buttons for reverse in Papyrus' games. So I
guess it's not that much of a loss. Maybe GP2 will allow me to program
the 4th button for something useful - pit lane speed limiter perhaps.
Also, it's a bit like using the freebie interconnect you get when you
buy a CDplayer to plug it into your amplifier. It's perhaps not going
to be quite as accurate as it possibly could be. Up to you.

Since I've never seen a T2 (but I have had 2 ECCI CDS's in the same
place at once - fantastic it was too!), I really can't say much beyond
this as I don't know how the T2 plugs together.

I suggest looking at         http://www.oz.net/~wottenad/wheel.htm

He has plans for building your own plus links to maufacturers.
