Thrustmaster T2 or GP1/CH Pro Pedals combo?

Thrustmaster T2 or GP1/CH Pro Pedals combo?

by Dewi Danie » Fri, 21 Feb 1997 04:00:00

I'm thinking of buying a Thrustmaster T2, but am also tempted by the
Thrustmaster GP1 and a pair of CH Pro Pedals. The latter combo would
cost a little more, but would give me:

1) Gear shift buttons on the steering wheel instead of a gear lever

2) A pair of rudder pedals to use in flight sims.

Also, the CH Pro Pedals look like they wouldn't slide around a wooden
floor as readily as the T2 pedals. However, the T2 pedals feel more
realistic to me than the slightly strange action of the CH Pedals.
They also seem to have more travel, and presumably better control.
Does anyone have any experience of, or any comments, on the GP1/CH Pro
Pedals combination?

Hello Dewi,

I have a T2 and a GP1.  I use the T2 and my 8-year old son uses the
GP1.  It turned out to be a perfect solution for him since we don't
have to find something to place under the pedals so he can reach
them.  I have also modified my T2 to include buttons on the wheel.
The wheel on the T2 is slightly thicker and feels marginally better to
me.

I would suggest that you try the GP1 by itself first.  The paddles
work quite well after a very short amount of practice.  If you still
want the foot pedals (or want them for flight sims) you could get them
later.

I have the GP1 with the regular CH Pedals. Heard a lot about
unreliability of the T2 pedal assembly, whereas the CH Pedals should
last a very long time, so I went with that. It works fabulously well and
you get to use the GP1's paddles as a clutch in GP2. One thing is that
both pedals are of equal tension, which of course isn't good for braking
`feel'. I have tried to stiffen up the spring assembly in the brake, but
didnn't help very much. Was careful not to overstrain either the plastic
mounts or pots. But I got used to the pedals pretty quick. Wonderful in
GP2!

Thrustmaster T2 or GP1/CH Pro Pedals combo?

I have the GP1 and Pro pedals and they work great together!  There is
a little adaptor with the GP1 that "disconnects" the paddles so that
they don't interfear with the Pro Pedals.  I have never used a T2 but
can't imagine that they work any better than what I have.  For flight
sims I just plug in a joystick, flip the switch on the Pedals, pull
out the "chucks" and I'm off into the wild blue yonder..waiting to get
toasted by the enemy. {G} I use the pedals and and wheel/joystick in
conjunction with a CH throttle as well.  The throttle doesn't affect
N2 or ICR2 but it sure comes in handy in Longbow...
Any questions on this setup? Don't hesitate to ask.

I got the GP1 hooked up to T2 pedals with no problems

BTW I am using an ACM gamecard and it is an improvement!

I bought CH Virtual Pro sterring & pedals. I use them with Flight Simulator
95,  Rally Championship, GP2, A10 Tank killer and they work very well and
they are quite easy to calibrate. I can't imagine driving or flying without
them. A little costly, but it 's worth it.
