F1 2000 mechanical failures?

I know that the AI cars can and do suffer from mechanical failures, but so far
I haven't suffered any.  Anyone have anything break?( without hitting the
wall!!)  Please tell me it's possible!!

Sure there are failures. I lost the 3rd gear once, and believe me, in
Imola you do need the third gear! Accelerating out of slow corners was a
chore because I needed to concentrate on clicking twice from 2nd to 4th.
At a poitn, I forgot, overrevved the engine, and once clicked to 4th,
the momentum of the engine sent the car into a spin.

It was really an immersive moment!

I've blown an engine in practice before, but don't know what options I
was running under at the time...
