WinVROC Hosting question

by Larry Hawe » Thu, 13 Apr 2000 04:00:00

I have been trying to host races on VROC and other drivers are unable to
join. I have a cable modem and have no trouble joining other races. I
believe another driver got an "out of service" message when he tried to
join. I have asked the chat group on VROC numerous times with no luck
and was wondering if anyone here knew of a magic setting I might be
missing or a clue as to how and set up hosting on VROC. Have tried the
VROC help and FAQ's and every site I know of for a clue but am stumped.

TIA
Larry

Are you using a firewall product of any type?

Thanks Erik,
What would I do if it were too high? Too low? Is there a setting?

I have found that ZoneAlarm and GPL Multiplayer (3dfx mode) do not
like each other. If I run the TNT2 (OpenGL mode) it is fine. Very odd,
anyone running a 3dfx board, with Zone Alarm online?

Steve I believe I have a pretty 'standard' setup. No zonealarm or any
other firewall that I know of.

I seem to have one of those simple anomalies that will not let others
join a hosted race. I have checked all the VROC FAQ's and have had no
luck with this specific problem. I wonder if I should be using core.ini
settings instead of the default in GPL 1.2. I thought I read that GPL
1.2 no longer requires core.ini and in fact runs better without it.
Correction?

Does anyone on this board actually host races? I am not desperate but a
little frustrated and ready to be embarrassed by the simple answer. Any
help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
