WinVROC Online GPL question

by Larry Hawe » Mon, 03 Apr 2000 05:00:00

I have just tried to go online to race GPL and cannot join or host a
race. I have GPL 1.2.0.1 and Win VROC 2.1.0.0. I have patched the Win
VROC with the .ini file and am able to see all races with all colors.
The buttons on the top for Join and Host are grayed out, the Inspect
button is available. Have checked all FAQ's I can find but no mention of
this problem.

Any help appreciated.

I just got a funny feeling that this might be OT if so apologies and can
someone direct me to appropriate NG

When in vroc, if you can chat, ask for help. If the vroc screen doesnt
show gpl 1.2.0.1 at the bottom, it means the winvroc path is not
correctly pointing to gpl.  If you didnt already, change the address in
vroc.ini to 209.53.20.177  And make sure you highlight a race before
trying to join.

Thanks for the reply

> When in vroc, if you can chat, ask for help.

Tried there first but no luck.

If the vroc screen doesn't

Screen does show GPL 1.2.0.1

If you didn't already, change the address in

Tried but no change

And make sure you highlight a race before

Makes no difference. The inspect button becomes available but the Join
and Host buttons still gray. Very weird.

Thanks again

Just for the heckofit, go to Options and reselect GPL via the "Browse"
button.  Also, you didn't do a partial install of GPL did you?  There
are issues with that.

<Also, you didn't do a partial install of GPL did you?>

Full install and have added the vroc.ini but still the same grayed out
Join and Host buttons. Are there any issues with a cable modem? Video
drivers? Am really stumped, everything looks like it should go but no
cigar.

Thanks again anybody out there seen this>?

Just a shot in the dark (since someone else has used up all the
*good* answers :)...  If its a recent install of GPL, do you have a
driver created?  I seem to remember hearing of someone having this
problem with a new install, but they hadn't named a driver, selected a
car, etc. and VROC acted up.

Nope, you've found the place.  ;)

you have to manually set the GPL directory in the VROC setup...eventhough it
appears to be correct in the first instance...

No, this is the right group.  Make sure you have the correct path set for GPL.
If WINVroc doesn't know where it is, it won't give you the option to start.
