AI in F1RC

by Txl » Thu, 03 May 2001 01:23:20

Hello,

Maybe it's me but I don't find the AI so bad in F1RC...

Before shouting let me describe the conditions :

Right now I am in a "fun" phase so I drive with the ABS and anti skid (at
50% but even so).

So since I start the quick races 15th I always end up passing a lot of cars
(because I also go out a lot and I have to restart passing them 5 or 6 laps
later...)

I have found out that if you want to pass with your front wheels barely in
front of the rear wheel of the other guy of course you are in DEEEEEP shit,
but if you have say 1/3 of a car advantage (with the ABS it's easy to
outbrake them) then he lets you pass, it seems that they are not often
looking in their mirrors and that they need to "see" you in order to let you
pass.

On the other hand when you take a lap to a backmarker he is REALLY going out
of his way (and yours) to let you pass.

Generally speaking I must say that this game is TREMENDOUS fun to drive,
maybe a bit too hard in the 0% help especially controlling the throttle
coming out of the corners but with the physics patch the situation is
GREATLY improved...

Bottom line is I enjoy this game a lot, not as "serious" as GPL (I didn't
really try to be honest) but very beautiful, smooth, fast, a very good game
in fact...

Where can I find this Physics patch, which you speak of?  And is it compatible
with the No-CD patch?

Thanks.

I get all my F1RC stuff from the german site

http://www.f1rcstation.de

It's all in german but very understandable.

Get the 2001 patch, it's 11 megs but has ALL the cars, faces, names,
helmets... and of course the physics patch which is anyway needed for the
tire patch and some other stuff on top of patching the physics itself.

that's the one I get my things from, I thing that www.racingsim.com has also
some stuff but I always go to the german thing, if you keep on hyaving this
problem I can upload the physics patch to my site and you can get it from
there, I ca,'t upload the 2001 patch because I have a phone connection and
sending up 11 megs on a 33 upload link is not really "doable" but the
physics patch i can send.

I can't reach www.racingsim.com either.  Don't know what the problem is.

If it's OK, perhaps you could e-mail that physics patch?

Thanks.
