GPL Framerates

Hello everybody,
I started practicing in GPL a few days ago. It's really a very good
simulator.
My system is a Celeron 333A with 64MB RAM, Creative Riva TNT 16MB,
SoundBlaster PCI64. I have WIN98 with DirectX6.0 and I use the OpenGL patch
provided by Papy.
I have all effects on and maximum details in 1024x768. When I use***pit
view I get framerates of 14-15, but when I change the view framerate
increases to 36.  The same in 800x600 and 640x480.
Is this normal or I should check my system up?

Thanks and Regards
Dimitris

it's normal.  in order to get the fps from the***pit to be higher you need
to modify core.ini to cut back on the frequency of mirror redraws.

see the readme that came with the OpenGL patch.

It's because of the two mirrors in the***pit view.  You have three
"screens" that need to be constantly refreshed.  For maximum enjoyment,
keep the***pit view, but try tweaking your settings until you can stay
close to 36 fps.  Decrease what is shown in the mirrors (you only need
to see the cars), turn down the detail level, cut the resolution to
800x600, reduce the number of sounds, etc.  The driving experience
really improves as your frame rate goes up (note: 36 fps is the max).
