Problem there is that you have to set details to the lowest common
denominator. That is, you have to turn it down so you don't get a PO of
significantly greater than 100% at the one or two hairy parts of the course
(or start). Then you suffer with less details for the rest of the race where
you otherwise could have had much higher detail if, IMHO, he made the "proper"
engine choice. One solution is to just cut the detail level on-the-fly.
Yes in a way, but I still find it unacceptable. Sure, it is smoother allowing
easier control. But it is also crawling along. Real racing is somewhat about
timing. A variable timeclock kills this. One time through a turn, it is
fast, next when crowded, slow. I've ranted on this subject for years, and
it really is manageable (though still a stooopid choice) so I'll take a
breather now :-)
