Has anyone got one of these Voodoo 3's yet.. I see in the 3dfx newsgroups
that shops are now selling the 2000 for sure & reports of the 3000 are
available in some places in the USA .. I'm wondering if GPL will work ok on
it so if u have one let us know please :)

Voodoo 3 & GPL

Just got home from work, picked up a V3-2000 AGP this afternoon, gonna
install it in a few minutes.  Sorta wanted a 3000 but figured I'll exchange
for it when it comes in, and this would give me a chance to test it out now.

I'll let ya know, have been a bit concerned about GPL since it had a problem
with some V2 drivers, although ran fine on my Creative 12mb V2 all this
time.  Fingers crossed, I'll post about it in a while....

Voodoo 3 & GPL

Update.  V3-2000 is in the machine, and is giving me faster framerates in
stuff like Quake2 at 1024x768 than my single V2 at 800x600.  Runs Glide game
Starsiege Tribes quite well.  The BUT, is of course, does really weird
things in GPL - the textures are all over the place and it just looks,
weird.  Strangely enough the junior cousin of GPL, Nascar Racing 99, runs
perfect on the V3-2000.

The 2D performance and looks seem really nice so far, noticeably better than
the Riva 128 I had for 2D, and the GPL glitch is the only found so far, but
that's just firing up some games and running them for a few minutes.
Curious to see if it's something easy to fix or something that's gonna take
a long time.  I don't play GPL as religiously as some folks here so it's
something I can live with for a while, but may not be for others.  Of course
you probably already have a V2 and can probably run it on that until the fix
but that kinda defeats the purpose.

So far I like it, enough to keep it and sell the V2 we'll see, I might keep
that for compatibility and get the TNT2, IF that lives up to the hype -
which would be a first for nVidia. :-)
