Thought i might get back into a bit of F1 2001 after seeing all the new
stuff with the GTMOD, only to be stopped right in my tracks at the start of
the installation. I cant find the original cd case which has the serial
number on it... wtf happens now? Seems it would make more sence to have it
on the manual or something

Hey, *you* lost the damned thing.  Call EA and ask for your old reg. code -
you did register it, didn't you?

Luke,

The CD-key is in the back of the manual of F1-2001.

I have seen this type of post before. What exactly do people do with
their jewel cases? Do you keep your CD's in a neat stack in the corner
of a room?

I have a CD drive and a burner...that is exactly 2 spots to store CD's
without a case. The rest of my collection is kept in jewel cases in a
storage rack. My manuals are kept in a "banker box".

Now, I have no reason to suspect otherwise, as I don't know you, but I
tend to think that many people who claim to have lost their CD cases,
manuals, etc. with the serial number on it, never have owned the
actual product.

Perhaps if you try to contact EA and fax, mail or email a photocopy of
the game disk, they would help you.

Good Luck.

In the manual?!?  Hmm, I can't find my manual right now(seriously), so I can't
check.<g>
It's on the back of my CD case, though.

Well, it depends on how organized you are.  I'm not.  I've misplaced CDs
before, so if a game *required* the CD, I couldn't play it for a while.
Manuals could be on any shelf in my computer room, or in on of several stacks
of books and paperwork.  My F1-2001 manual isn't in the box(I just checked).  I
*did* find the CD, so I'd be ok there.  If it(the serial#) had only been in the
manual, I'd currently be SOL...

Ok really, if i pirated the game of a friend, i could just ask him for the
serial, and if i downloaded the ISO it would have the serial number in the
.NFO file. If it was a rip, you wouldnt require to install the game, just a
no-cd crack which is useless for me because i cant even get to select the
installation directory. I ended up finding my case anyway, turns out it was
the case the cd was in, i just didnt look at the back :). 2hrs of time
wasting for nothing :)

It isn't anywhere in my manual, only in the back on the CD case, printed on the inside sleeve.
