F1 2001 joystick loses settings from time to time.

I'm using a logitech wingman force joustick, downloaded the patch and
installed that, but occasionaly when I start a session the joystick settings
won't work.

I've set a custom set-up for the joystick, accel/brake on the throttle,
shift up/down on buttons 5/6  views on the POV hat, adjust brake balance on
buttons 2/3 and so on,.

Sometimes when it loads a track the throttle and gears won't work, and
button 1 suddenly shifts into netral and reverse...

It seems random when it happens.

Anyone else had a similar problem, and solved it?
