Lap times for a newbie in F1 2001

Well seeing as I've only had this game for less than a week, and I've also
been playing Civ III and Max Payne this week I thought I see how I am doing
in comparison to you lot.

I've only really tested myself around Australia in a Ferrari so far, and
have so far managed a best lap time of 1:32:367

Is that any good? I'm still learning so I know I could be better.

As a side point has anyone set all the driving aids to high and selected
trackside camera and just watched an entire race. I did it the other day and
my car won the race.

The fastest lap is 1.23.384 by Greger Huttu,so knock another 10 seconds off
and you will hold the WR ;-)

But don't let that discourage you.  Greger is one of a small group of
NON-Earthlings who routinely visit our planet with the sole purpose of
destroying all lap records.  There is a F1 2001 ranking site that will show
you  the various lap times of these Aliens and also the slower laps by the
'normal' folk.  :)
I think www.simbin.com has a link to the site.
F1relay also has some limited online racing with F1 2001 so search that
out and try your hand against a few others...have fun..

Honestely, since you are a newbie, the lap time doesn't really matter that
much. It is more important that you have control of the car, and that you
can run lap times like that for a long time.

When I first got the game, I was doing about 1:32s with the default setups.
I guess I'd say I'm an average sim' racer.  You may have some potential.
Try downloading Ian Bell's setups from www.simbin.com - they're pretty easy
to drive for beginners and should improve your lap times a fair bit.  I
guess if you're wanting to compare yourself with others, head over to
www.the-best.racesim.net and join the F1 2001 world ranking.
