You poor, well-meaning-but-misguided suckers.
Apparently you all don't remember the "eagerly" awaited GP2. There were
millions of rumors (rumours for you across the pond) about the release date,
which kept being pushed back month after month after month...
As for "cutting out a large section of their prospective buyers"
(paraphrase), Crammond, while a gifted programmer, is a little short on
sympathy for us sim-buyers. GP2 was an unbelievable hog on resources.
Microprose simply said something to the effect of "hey, you need to buy a
new computer" and that was that.
The best advice is to:
Read all the magazines with Sneak Peeks / Previews / Rumo(u)rs / whatever in
them,
Look at all the pretty pictures of the pre-beta / beta code,
Listen to all the posts here about the forthcoming release,
Save up your pennies (as I will be doing after blowing a godawful huge wad
of cash on my TSW),
Drink a good stiff rum 'n coke nightly, and
Ignore every twinge of anticipation (that's what the rum is for) you may
feel until:
IT ACTUALLY ARRIVES ON THE STORE SHELVES!!!
Anything else is too painful. Trust me. I've been there. Got the t-shirt and
indigestion to prove it.
