F1 2001, crash to desktop problem, help!

Whenever I am in a mode (like quick race or test day or driving school) and I
want to go back to the main menu, I crash back to desktop.  Is there a fix for
this?

Make sure your desktop is running in the same res and bit depth as the
game. Run F12001 in windowed mode if your are not already. Open the
config.ini in the F12001 folder and change WINDOWEDMODE=0 to
WINDOWEDMODE=1.
