n3 will not use the gpl engine

by Brian Bowle » Mon, 17 May 1999 04:00:00

i read this at simracing.com from the e3 show:  Two sims using the GPL
physics? Nope! Sean said that because of technical issues the GPL physics
won't be a part of the Legends sim, nor will they be in the release of N3.
That's right folks. The long awaited sequel to N2 WON'T be using the physics
engine form Grand Prix Legends!

Sean explained that the GPL physics never worked properly for N3, and that
Papyrus didn't have enough time to get it right and have it released on time
(N3 is already several months behind schedule). This was disappointing news!
Do the people at Sierra realize what many are expecting of N3 - namely that
it will incorporate the GPL physics? Man, I was starting to get some really
bad feelings about all this.

Sean also mentioned that LoN would not be interchangeable with N3, but this
could mean either two things: 1) that N3 and LoN are simply separate
products, but sharing similar internal structures, or 2) the two sims are
coded differently; enough so that anyone wanting to interchange the two
would have a tough time doing so.

Go back a thread or two and read the E3 recap at Simracing.com  Then
you'll
probably feel differently.
