N4 problems

Recently I had to reformat my hard disk due to a Windows complication. Upon
reinstalling Windows, I reinstalled all my other programs, games, etc.
However when I reinstalled NASCAR 4 and attempted to run it, would play the
opening video fine, but then stop responding on the Papyrus title screen. I
downloaded the 1.3.0.6 patch for it, and the problem was still there, then I
downloaded the smaller patch and it still hangs up whenever I try to start
the game. Then I deleted the game re-installed it again and the problem
still persists. Papyrus Tech support wasn't much help. The only possible
thing that I think may be causing this problem is the fact that my sound
card and video card a operating on the same IRQ. But I doubt that is the
problem since all my other games run great, and some of them are more
hardware-demanding than N4.  If anyone has any advice on how to rectify this
problem it would be greatly appreciated. My system specs are:

XP1700+
256 DDR RAM
SB 512
GF2 Ti 64 meg
80 gig 7200 RPM HD

I would agree with the Papy tech support.  Just because all the other
games work doesn't mean your sound and vid cards sharing irq's isn't a
problem.
I was recently on a motherboard newsgroup, the manufacturer rep claimed
shared irq's weren't a problem.  UNLESS....you had a SBlive or or or...
If at all possible, re-configure your system and get the vid card alone on
irq 11.  Good luck.

Does it freeze or does it kick you back to the desktop. Check to make sure
your NASCAR Racing 4.exe is named properly and the rendserver.dll file is
named right.

It doesn't lock up the computer, the mouse cusor on the screen can still be
moved around. It just gets to the Papyrus title screen and stays there. If I
hit ctrl+alt+del, the program window that opens up says that NASCAR 4 has
stopped responding. It will just stay at the Papyrus title screen until I
close the program.
