N4 Problem after patch

by A Thoma » Fri, 27 Apr 2001 16:05:28

Installed the patch last night and now I find that I can't access the garage
. It used to be a little flaky previously with the garage superimposed over
the menu and everything was difficult to read plus only one tab was visible
but now I can't run it at all .

I'm running the euro version with a Duron 800 V3 2000 card with 1.07 drivers
in D3D at 600x480 at the moment.

Help would be much appreciated

Sounds like you might have modified your layout.dat in the past, and that's
causing the patch to be unable to patch layout.dat.  Delete any and all
loose files from your n4\layout directory, restore the original layout.dat
off the CD (remember to remove the read-only attribute), and then reapply
the patch.  If all else fails, do a fresh install of n4 to a new directory
and reapply the patch.

It's also possible that you've tried installing the incorrect patch version.
Double check that you're using the n4.1.1.1.0_int.exe patch for the
International version of the game.

Eric,

THANKS! for fixing the name problem in race.  Now we know who the scumbags
are when we return to the arena, and we can muzzle em' :)

Also all the other great fixes!

Now, about this controller stuff.... :)

I uninstalled and re-installed the game last night and am delighted to say
that the game is now fine . When I installed the patch originally it did
mention an error with the layout file actually though I was thinking that it
might have been something to do with the fact that DX8 wasn't already
installed before the first installation . Anyway , all  is now fine and
dandy .

Thanks for the reply
