N4 Online With NoCD Patch - Fixed Yet??

by Peter Hoope » Mon, 12 Mar 2001 19:03:32

Hi all,
Just wondering whether anyone has been able to play N4 online with the
NoCD patch yet. I don't want to have to keep using the original CD but
can't get online with the NoCD patch as I get a message telling me I
have an out of date version.

I have checked through all the posts relating to this type of problem
but haven't found any answers so just checking to see if anyone else
has found a work around.

TIA

I was able to copy my N4 disk with the CD Copier program (part of
Adaptec's CD Easy CD Creator 3.5).  It works to start the game and run
online.  Some have suggested N4 only uses the SecuROM copy protection
during installation (I haven't tried an install from the copied disk -
no need to), others have suggested that there are different N4 disks
out there (with different/no copy protection).  Dunno, but it works
for me.

N4 Online With NoCD Patch - Fixed Yet??

Thanks for that,
I actually have now managed to copy the CD using the latest version of
CloneCD. I haven't had much luck using the version of Adaptecs CD
Copier that came with my CD-RW to copy game discs.

Initially the CloneCD copy didn't seem to work either, it installed
the sim fine but when I tried to run it nothing happened. However,
after rebooting it now works fine and I am able to join online races
via the Sierra button in the game.

Many thanks

PH

N4 Online With NoCD Patch - Fixed Yet??

Simple Fix...

1.  Get a copy of CloneCD from the Net.
2.  Get a copy of DAEMON Tools 2.47a from the Net.
3.  Install CloneCD.  Restart.  Do not change ANY options.  Create an image
of the CD.
4.  Change the extension on the CD to .ISO.
5.  Put away the N4 CD FOREVER!
6.  Install DAEMON Tools 2.47a.  Restart.
7.  Using the DAEMON Tools System Tray Icon, Set it to Emulate SecuROM.
8.  Using the DAEMON Tools System Tray Icon, mount the N4 CD Image.

At this point, the CD will automount just like you put it in the CD-ROM
Drive.  Install N4.  Play N4, online and off.

I've been doing this for 2 weeks and in fact have imaged nearly all of my
game CD's and put them away safely.

Nascar Heat, Viper Racing and GPL also work fine.

Oddly, I haven't been able to get CloneCD to read the GP3 CD.  I'll work on
that later, as GP3 is a low priority :)
