Give me about 5 minutes to set it up.  Look for RASF1, no password.  I want to
test out a second server...

Oh well, we only had about 8 or 9 guys.  Two things that neew answers.
1. how can you set a shorter practice time automatically?
2. how do you get the effing server car off the grid?!?  I can't believe it
doesn't 'time out'...
BTW, PedX - I got tired of losing 3-7 seconds per lap to the next slowest car.
After my 3rd or 4th spin in the last complex, I got fed up and quit.

Thanks for running that Eldred... we had a good race.

Found out something interesting about the McLaren is that it gets better
fuel mileage than the others. With the settings we used: 7X fuel usage and
30% (18lap) distance, I was able to pit only once where the others had to
pit twice. We should try to set up our races to eliminate that advantage. So
much of an advantage that I spun 3 times and still won.

That was a lot of fun!

Didn't have any problems tonight.  What happened to you during the race?

It seemed to be going really well for me at least. When you did disconnect,
the server car did get off the grid btw. The only problem I had was massive
understeer out of all but 3 turns that cost me at least 4 seconds a lap. Are
we going to continue racing at Silverstone so I can get an actual setup
here? :-P

Glad you liked it.  I got bored driving around by myself, so I quit.

No, I actually switched back over to the server and kept hitting escape until
it went back to the pits.  We may have a solution for that, though.  PedX came
up with a great idea that I'll test tonight.

Those settings were chosen based on testing in the Screamers league.
Interesting that there should be such a difference between cars, though...

Boohoo, that's no good! :-)  If there are some cars that have better fuel
mileage (as we have seen the McLaren definately does), then running such a
high multiplier of fuel use, coupled with short distances, is going to
severely disadvantage the cars that don't get such good fuel mileage.

Here's what we found, with the race settings of the other night.  The
McLaren full was 140L, giving 9 laps.  The Williams full was 150L, giving 8
laps.  The race was 18 laps, so the McLaren only needed 1 stop whereas the
Williams needed 2.  I don't have the figures for the BAR or Jag, perhaps
Stuart and Elrikk can comment on that?

Are you using the default setup?  Try the setup by "The Notorious".  It's
not perfect for me, but it made me quicker.  You can get his setups at

Well, that didn't work.  We're still looking for solutions...

I don't know how you got 9 laps out of the McLaren...  I tested all the car
settings in the garage:

Car                  fuel(liters)                laps
Ferrari             140                          8
McLaren          140                          8
Williams          150                          8
Sauber            145                          8
Jordan             145                          8
BAR               135                           8
Renault           135                           8
Jaguar             145                          8
Arrows            135                           8
Minardi           135                           7
Toyota            135                           8

So, the only car that can't make it 8 laps on a full tank is the Minardi.  I
checked the McLaren both online and offline, and got 8 laps each time.

OK, I'm thoroughly confused... I tried a test session at 7X fuel usage and
couldn't even get a full 7 laps out of the McLaren this time, while I got 9
laps during our race. We did use 7X fuel didn't we?

5x fuel, 7x tires...
Now, my test was based on the readout in the garage screen.  I didn't take the
cars on the track.  That would be very driver specific.  Example, I didn't know
that in GPL, some drivers/cars can't finish a full GP without running out of
fuel.  That was never an issue for me - I always had PLENTY of fuel left after
a full GP.
So, I would guess that you're just easier on the car(which sucks, because
you're so fast<g>).
