What chance for us Eldred?  LOL, he's the fastest of the bunch so far, yet
he still manages to conserve fuel enough so that he only has to stop once.
I guess I could try to conserve as well, but then watch the lap times
rocket (in the wrong direction). hehe

>>Here's what we found, with the race settings of the other night.  The
>>McLaren full was 140L, giving 9 laps.  The Williams full was 150L, giving 8
>>laps.  The race was 18 laps, so the McLaren only needed 1 stop whereas the
>>Williams needed 2.  I don't have the figures for the BAR or Jag, perhaps
>>Stuart and Elrikk can comment on that?

> I don't know how you got 9 laps out of the McLaren...  I tested all the car
> settings in the garage:

> Car                  fuel(liters)                laps
> Ferrari             140                          8
> McLaren          140                          8

Now that's strange. I can only get 135L of fuel max into the
Toyota...

Cheers,

uwe

Could be gearing?  I believe the sim estimates fuel use off of engine
speed and throttle position, might be worth checking to see if running
longer gears changes the fuel estimation in the setup area.

Isn't that what I listed for Toyota?  The cars don't all have the same size
tanks...

Considering I'm a total novice at setup, that may take longer to test...<g>

I just noticed something while working on a Melbourne qual setup...

I did my initial runs with 8L of fuel, which is just enough to show a
2 for the lap estimate.  No problems, car started sputtering a little
midway through the first sector of my in lap.

Shortened the gears a tad and did another test.  Fuel estimate did not
change.  However, this time the engine started sputtering just after I
exited the final turn leading onto the front stretch.

As best as I can tell the lap estimate is a static figure, but the
actual amount of fuel used varies depending on engine speed (as it
should).

I think the lap estimate is based on the fuel use number in the track's .aiw
file.
