Time for a realistic bike sim?

I know its very hard to simulate a bike sim because of the effect that rider
movement has on weight distribution, and that rider styles differ greatly
from rider to rider.. but isnt it time for a proper assult on making a
realistic bike sim? As a professional bike racer in Australian, and someone
who has raced something on 2 wheels for 16 years i can honostly say that
there is nothing that comes close to midly attempting to be realistic :). I
think if you could do things like change the weight of the rider, and select
a few different pre-set riding styles which also changes the bike handling,
along with real physics could make a really incredible game, especially with
motogp florishing like it is now... Please someone!

id just like to say the motogp holds my interest above pretty much all other
racing at the moment, seeing guys slide bikes in the braking areas is
amazing.

SBK 2K1 is probably the best thing out there so far...or maybe GP500....

Sure its the best, but its no more realistic for bikes than NFS is for
cars.. Iver never seen someone scape their knees on a straight before, or
slammed the throttle on a GP bike (or any bike quicker than a supersport) in
the middle of a turn without being spat on their arse before they could say
oops.. Its just not there

Maybe the idea of a bike sim with that kind of realism doesn't appeal to the
software companies, because it's such a physical sport, and that's hard to
simulate if you're sitting behind a PC. To make it realistic, you'd have to
construct a special controller to accommodate the body-physics part. I know
there are bike-controllers that sort of aim for that, but it never really
got off the ground, AFAICS (see:
http://europe.thrustmaster.com/products/d_prd.php?p=T89&fam=4).

So it could be that the lack of proper hardware has something to do with the
bike sims being arcady. My 2 cents anyway.

Hopefully the hardware and software companies will continue to develop
products that increase the realism of this great sport...

That controller SUCKS big time.
I used to road race bikes in the AMA CCS and WERA endurance series.
And it offers almost nothing to what racing a bike is like in real
life. Even the arcade versions of "Hang On" were lacking in the "feel"
of realism of actually racing a bike..

I've only ridden mopeds - not a bike, but GP500 is the best bike sim to date
imho.

I always played with a joystick - but apart from the netcode -it was SUPERB

Sure I'd love to see a more realist motorcycle sim.  But I get the
feeling that non-bike rider do not understand COUNTER-STEERing steer
on a bike, meaning you need to turn the wheel to the right to make the
bike lean and go left.  ( I think I am opening a can of worms here.)

Without counter-steering, an bike sim is just a glorified arcade.
This I think is the fundamental problem.

Plus there are people who are able to judge how real a sim is and not
knowing how to ride.

LOL...so if I've driven a tractor, these racing sims will be easy
then....The physics are basically
the same, just the speed is different. Now, if only I can get rid of this
understeer of my John Deere........

That's easy,  make sure the front loader bucket is down low and if yours
is a model with a counter weight on the rear, dance with the devil and take
some weight out of the container.  :)

Hehe....
And my loader on the front really adds to the aero push!
