I've seen this wheel at my local stores. It's not cheap, but it does look
good, and reasonably made as well. What's the verdict on it?

I had it for maybe six weeks -> it's just bad for that money. Now i have the
ne momo racing wheel, and this one is just amazing good and near half the
price of the thrustmaster.
Dinou
It's a reasonably good Force Feedback wheel, but the apparent build-quality
is deceiving. A lot of reliability issues have been reported with it.
If purchasing either a MSFF, a Logitech MOMO or a MOMO Racing wheel is an
option, I'm more confident recommending those.

myk, trygg og god.
Like all wheel/pedals the pedals are too small/light for *** feet..
My only complaints, their driver code sucks (takes the axis split
controls away from the control panel and crashes some games if
running) and the wheel clamp is incompatible with a keyboard tray.
I like it better then my other buddies Logitech (non-Momo).

I chip in almost everywhere and dump my opinion even if it wasn't asked
for. But very rarely do I get into wheel/pedal discussions. why? Cuz it
seems that EVERYONE has a different expectation of what the wheel should be.
Some think the cheapest crapiest plastic thingy is just wonderful. Others
complain cuz their $1000 wheel feels cheap.
I could weigh in about problems most wheels have, but when it comes down
to how a wheel feels, one guy's dream is another guy's nightmare.

As for the crappy drivers, I just don't run thier "thrustmapper"
utility during game play. Run it once to remap axis and that's all
(there are newer versions on their site now but I haven't bothered).
Oh yeah, one more thing, I have to recalibrate the wheel within GPL
with every fresh boot (takes 2 seconds), I don't know if it's a wheel
thing or a GPL thing as I don't have to do anything similar in Rally
Trophy, F1 2k2, Nascar3 or LFS.
Like DH says, it's all a matter of what you've used. So far TM's
products are still good enough for me to not warrent switching and I
appreciate decent customer service these days.
"mcewena"
Somebody, NOT ME, found out that if you input anything during the booting
of GPL and, I think, N4/n2k2, you loose the lock on the calibration. So
try to just get the sim starting to load and then don't move or click your
mouse or keyboard til it's through loading.

The 'thrustmapper' seems to be a bit problematic for some people, but as one
guy said, use it once to set up split pedals etc and forget it.

Sure Dave, but James asked for opinions and I supplied him with mine, which
is that in my own experience (and that of simracers I know personally)
Thrustmaster / Guillemot wheels look more solid than they really are. I.e.
that they're a bit brittle when used by aldults in "proper" sims. ;-)
I really am more confortable recommending the wheels I mentioned as I know
they'll stand up to a fair amount of punishment.
I now leave James to make up his own mind.

My old T2 was bulletproof. My latest Ferrari FF wheel has been solid as a
rock as for over a year now.
David G Fisher
I spent more time fixing my T2 than driving it, almost. My buddy Tony went
through 3 Ferrari FF's under warranty before he moved back to Australia.
Greg's Guillemot Ferrari was held together with duct tape (he taught me the
bungee pedal return mod, which relieved most of my TM pedal woes).
Meanwhile, my original Logitech (threw a cup&pad switch after about 18
months hard use) and Logitech MOMO are still going strong, so are those
owned by fellow simmers. MSFF's get an equally "unbreakable" rating among
those I race with.
I'm glad yours lasted as they did, but I don't trust 'm as much as the ones
I mentioned, sorry.

i think alot has to do with the users SIZE and the users USE. and when
you race the users STYLE.
are you 15 and small built? gentle? are you 6'4 and weigh 215 and
manhandle everything as if you were a lumberjack?
not only as Dave H says alot of it is opinions, but how it feels to
YOU. i am totally satisfied with mine~
