N99: how to get rid of the Anti-Aliasing ?

by Michael Staa » Tue, 23 Feb 1999 04:00:00

Hi there,

besides racing in GPL I sometimes like an oval race in Nascar99 from Papy...
I run the Win95-3dfx Version ( would prefer the DOS-Rendition-Version with
my Herc Thriller but it won't work with my MS-Wheel ) and want to get rid of
the Anti-Aliasing to get better framerates on my CL V2 12MB/ PII 300 64MB,
especially at the restarts it slows down too much IMO.

Which settings must I use, I tried to run an batch-file like i did in
Nascar2 but it didn't work ? What exactly do I have to do to race without AA
?

Thanks in advance,

keep on racing :)

Viele,

If you open "nr1999.ini" in notepad, simply replace the "2" out next to
the command "n2fxaa" with a 0.  This turns AA completely off, and it
will look and run about like the Rendition version.  You might, however,
experiment with putting a "1," which turns on some but not full
anti-aliasing.  You can also do the same thing in "nr1999.prf" if you
ever need to run the DOS 3dfx version.

Hope this helps--

Edge anti-aliasing is disabled by default, and would need to be enabled
in the nr1999.ini or nr1999.prf (the .ini for Windows and the .prf for
DOS).

I have deleted the rem remark in the .ini file but I can't really
see a difference in the sim.  using the 3dfx win95 exe.
