FF Help in GPL for the computer illiterate Please

by David Smit » Wed, 28 Jul 1999 04:00:00

I just received my ACT ForceRS today and I can't get FF in GPL. Here's What
I've done:
1. I downloaded allisons core.ini, renamed it to core.ini and put it in my
C:/sierra/gpl folder.
2. Changed the allow force feedback =0 to =1 and saved it.
3. Downloaded new drivers for the force RS from their website and installed.
4. Tried the NFS3 that came with the wheel and it worked fine.
I'm not sure but I think my problem is the core.ini. I really have no idea
if it's in the right place(C:/sierra/gpl) or not. Could someone explain the
core.ini in detail or point me in the right direction. I bought this FF
wheel esp. for GPL and it's frustrating not feeling any effect. BTW
everything but the FF is working fine in GPL. Any help at all would be
greatly appreciated. Thank You!

This is just a shot in the dark, but did you install the 1.1 patch ?
There is no FF in GPL prior to the patch...

When you install the patch, a file called sample_core.ini (or something like
that) is created in the GPL root. You might want to take a look at that file
and copy & paste the relevant stuff into your own core.ini file. That worked
for me and my MS FF Wheel.

David,
Are there any comments (semi-colons) at the front of the FF command lines?
If this is the case you need to delete these.

You need to make sure the file really is called 'core.ini'.
Make sure your windows views is set to show full file names as the file is
delivered as core.ini.sample (or something like that). Remove the .sample
bit.

As a last resort you could always do what us techies do, read the
instructions. In the readme file that comes with the patch it explains
precisely what to do with the file.
