Papy's next game?

Have there been any hints as to what Papyrus's next racing game will cover?
I sort of expected they would have announced something by now.

I've seen posts here by Ymenard and a few others (at least I think it was
Franc,) that stated Nascar Racing 2003 is next up for the Papy crew.
Lately Nr2k2 has been on sale at Best Buy and Circuit City..this is often
done to clear shelves of existing product when NEW titles are on the
way....Since I don't think we will see another title until Daytona next
year, this is jussst a little curious.

Great!  I'd sooner see them slowly keep improving on the NASCAR Sim myself.

I know a beta tester - it's NR2003 (haven't had a chance to actually
see it yet, though).

I figured...

oh well, maybe Racing Legends will actually be finished... not that I've
really been into ANY games recently, I was just curious what was up in the
sim world.

You and enough other people will be happy enough to keep them in business,
which is cool.  Some of us get tired of the constant NASCAR assembly line
offerings...

So what you're saying is that Papyrus should cater to your wants and forget
about what sells best. Novel idea. (-:

Eldred I know how you feel but as you say they are going to make what the
market wants and that is NASCAR.
If there was a real demand for another sim they would make it but that's
life.  For me its not an issue as I love NASCAR however variety is the spice
of life but I have yet to find another racing sim that holds my interest.

The concept that the West's have sounds great and would be great if it ever
sees the light of day which I have my doubts.  What Papy may need to look at
is the expansion pack concept to add new styles into the NASCAR engine
perhaps and beat West's at their own game.

A single F1 sells more worldwide then any NASCAR title will ever sell.

"ymenard"
But wouldn't you agree that Sierra has NOT pushed the Papyrus Nascar
titles 'world wide'?

After all, N4 came out in Germany, England and maybe Australia...same
with N2k2.   Either Sierra doesn't have the cash to work out selling
agreements overseas, or they just don't figure there is a market for Heavy,
low-tech racers elsewhere.

So  with that in mind....all the F1 title sales in the world don't matter
when looking at the target audience of a Nascar sim.  MOST likely...up until
EA got into the game, the sales of Papyrus Nascar titles alone was greater
than all the F1 titles combined IN USA SALES.  Granted F1 has a huge built
in audience,  but a small part of that is in the US.  So Sierra shoots for a
BIG part of a smaller pie rather than taking a very small part of a much
bigger pie.

There is a real demand for Non-NASCAR sims.  Or else, you would only see
NASCAR titles on the shelves of computer stores no?  There are plenty of
non-NASCAR racing sims on the shelves, therefore there is a demand.

You may be right, but there are quite a few F1 games out already.
Unfortunately F1 isn't very picky in who they license. EA's F1 2002 is
pretty fun but no one races it online because of the quality of the
multiplayer.
