Papy's next game?

by Eden » Tue, 13 Aug 2002 22:52:10

Main problem here is (I heard of...) that Uncle Bernie (FIA) does not allow
(or want more $) better support for MP in EA's franchise.

I don't see why things would be different if Papy was to try their hands at
delivering us an F1 sim.

Just wondering here how come there is no MOD similar to those available for
F12001-2002 made for N2002?

We could make good use the MP engine!

Racing Legend could be the answer to that but, then again I had been
expecting WSC for years and never saw the color of it. West were planning a
end of the year release date for it....-Preposterous!

guys, the FIA not wanting mp is just RAS voodoo.

let it die.

coding multiplayer for cars that can change velocity so quickly has to be
harder than the gpl cars that have no grip, and the nascars that have no
agility.

So really, then, it's like racing with 21 clones of Jimmy Spencer?

Appreciated Dave, knew I could count on you, and yes, that number is
correct, although with NR2002 we're up to 5, excluding my own copy

Papy's next game?

"Eden" .
There are several reasons why there are no mods for N2k2, the biggest is
Papyrus is not into helping the mod builders like the ISI(f1 2kxx) or the
MGI(Nascar Heat) teams are.  They have coded the tracks and the cars in a
very closed architecture, where-as the other guys have used plain 'ol text
files and even provided tools to help build new mods.
It is kinda odd that Papyrus has gone this route, they were one of the
first 'modded' sims back when the private ICR2 guys built the Group C/Imsa
bodies for endurance racing.(Heck Papy even snuck a night mode option in for
them)
The USPits.com has done wonders with modding the earlier Nascar games,
N2/N99/N3/NL have all been enhanced with the TPTCC touring car patches.
But it has apparently proven vary difficult to alter the cars in both N4
and N2k2.  There are some new noses around...like the Audi A4 recently
previewed, but that's about the limit so far.  Certainly even if somebody
figures out the newer carshapes, there is still the hardcoded weight and
physics.   With the EA/Infogrames titles, changing the way the cars handle
and move is relatively easy.(getting it right..that's another matter)
And frankly, the high definition body shapes that mods like the FIA or
ALMS can provide are huge steps over even the best N3 TPTCC stuff.
Hopefully somebody will figure out how to open up the newer Papyrus titles,
but I'm no-longer holding my breath....
(still, just to start and UNFOUNDED rumour.)  Jan Kohl, the mover and
shaker behind the tptcc touring car patches over the years, has been
strangely in-active in the TPTCC summer racing schedule....is
he...perhaps.....working on something?????????

Large bulky cars that are very good at turning left.

Any other questions? ;-)

Why on earth would I want two, I stopped playing N4 after a couple of
hours ......., I did keep my personal copy though, I think I have
everything Papy has released except for the CTS expansion pack and the
original Indy500 game

Wooosh!
Just joking about the "Support Papy, buy two copies of GPL!" campaign...
...and I actually didn't know, you stopped playing N4 so quick, sorry.

Ah hah :-)

Well, I believe in supporting Papy when they do a good job, so I may get
a 2nd copy of NR2002, I'm not getting a 2nd copy of N4....:-)
